DeShPet lab members Daniela and Goran participated at the 60th Japanese Peptide Symposium held in Otsu (Japan) with two oral presentations on the topic of catalytic peptides and challenges of applying ML to the prediction of active peptides. It was a great experience and opportunity to network with Japanese and international scientists.
DeShPet team members had a lot of fun organizing, presenting their results and networking at the Peptide Chemistry Day held in Zagreb at the beautiful SEECEL building. It was a great day and we hope to have more of this opportunities in the future. It was nice to have our friend and collaborator Antonella Bandiera from the University of Trieste as invited speaker.
Huge congrats to @Jankovic_Pat for defending her PhD topic on the design of short catalytic peptides. Great discussion with the committee members Christian Gruber (Medical University of Vienna) @peptide_drugs, Toni Todorovski (UNIRI) and Ruža Frkanec (PMF Zagreb).

Congrats Patrizia and the team for this great article for which Marko Babić designed the inside front cover.

Proud to share that Daniela, our team leader, won the Invited Lecturer Presentation Award at the MRS Spring Meeting in San Francisco. It has been a great experience and opportunity for sharing our results and interacting with leaders in the field of peptide materials! DeShPet lab members participated at the Austrian Peptide Symposium held in Vienna in December 2022. Congratulations to Patrizia for winning the poster prize and to Marko, Erik and Marko on excellent poster presentations and discussions.
Daniela and Goran attended the GRC conference “Chemistry and Biology of Peptides” in Oxnard (CA) where they presented the experimental (Daniela) and computational (Goran) overviews of the DeShPet project, showcasing the main results. It was a great meeting focused on networking and sharing ideas with friends and new potential collaborators and a great opportunity to enjoy California.
Daniela participated in the review article by Pina lab, entitled Catalytic Peptides – Simplicity and Functionality published in Israel Journal of Chemistry (IF 3.333).
Another paper this year, published in Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling (IF 6.162) entitled Sequential Properties Representation Scheme for Recurrent Neural Network-Based Prediction of Therapeutic Peptides. Great work and effort by Erik and others in showing that representation schemes metter!
