KLIMOD

The KLIMOD project implements applied scientific research to develop an overall model of pollution spread, microbiological contamination prediction and microplastics determination based on numerical computational models, machine learning and experimental characterization. In detail, this project is focused in three parts:

    1. Computational model of pollution flow and spread in the open watercourses and coastal sea area, with river reception inlets, torrents and industrial and sewage discharges.
    2. Artificial Intelligence based prediction model of microbiological contamination using the environmental data and weather forecast.
    3. Identification and characterization of polymer composition and properties from seawater samples.

The computational models will be customized for supercomputer environment which allows the implementation of high resolution simulation with the aim of preparing and implementing measures for mitigating the effects of climate change on vulnerable areas.
